Birds

Back to the birds again.

Have you seen it?

What?

The Hoopoe birds - yes that is its real name.

There's one reported in the area. Of course it's kept secret. Only the "twitchers" will know.

What a great migrant. When I read about this bird I learnt it can out do a Merlin in flight. Now, that's a feat!

Old Postcards of Henley

Over the last few weeks we've had a bit of a tidy up of our old postcards of Henley. As a result of this tidy up our old postcards can now be found within the relevant location sub-section, i.e. you'll find old postcards of Henley Bridge in our Henley Bridge section. Logical, hey? As of today we currently have 34 old postcards on the site. We'll continue to add new ones weekly; you'll spot the odd teaser dotted around the site.

Also, remember you can post your comments and share your thoughts on any of these postcards.

In the last few weeks we've added the following postcards of Henley and the surrounding area for your enjoyment...

Snow

Unfortunately Tornado Man has gone away "up north" today and has missed all of the lovely snow. Being a weather enthusiast he's a bit frustrated by that. Anyway, remember you can always get live weather conditions for Henley on the main website and Tornado Man should be back with some weather forecasts for Henley next week.

Until then, here's a picture of a snow person...

Birds. Did you see them?

Regular readers to the blog will know that I regularly take the dog for the early morning walk. Today I had a big shock. I am sure I saw at least 6 chickens (yes, chickens) flying!! Well I am no ornithologist but do take a great deal of interest in wildlife, but chickens flying. They don't fly, do they? I know they can do short sorts of hop flights but these were almost in formation at about 30 feet off the ground. Can anyone help me please. dDid you see them? I have heard via the radio (Radio Berkshire) last week that hens are being rescued from battery farming and taking up new residents with their new owners as free range. Perhaps it was these with their new found freedom!!
